Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Mahila Mattu Makkala Koota Trust of Mysore
was founded by Smt. T. Sunandamma, well known freedom fighter, Gandhian, social
worker, and an ardent devotee of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. She was ably
assisted in her endeavour by her husband Sri. Narasimha Iyengar (also a freedom
fighter and member of National Congress) and a few other like-minded persons.
It was registered in 1959.
The Trust began serving modestly by starting a nursery school. It was in
the residence of Smt. Sunandamma, Managing Trustee. There Were only three children and one teacher. The Nursery School gained
momentum and became a Lower Primary School with three teachers.
This school is functioning for the last 50 years with the sole objective
of providing value based quality education to the children of economically and
educationally background families. without taking donations for their admission
to the school. Recognising the exemplary work, the then Mysore City Improvement
Trust Board (now MUDA), allotted a site at Jayalakshmipuram, Mysore on a long
lease to construct the school building.
Bhagawan laid the foundation of school building on September 15, 1963. He
said, “I laid the foundation stone and blessed the endeavour. Good works will
never languish for want of funds. Lord will come to the rescue. Help will come
from pious hearts.” Swami’s words have come true. Till 2011 the School was
housed in three temporary blocks. Sri Sathya Sai Central trust has provided
seed money for the construction of the new building.
