KCET 2026 Is Here Application Dates Exam Schedule and Major Updates

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially announced the KCET 2026 notification, bringing clarity and relief to lakhs of students across Karnataka. As per the official update, the KCET 2026 online application process will begin on January 17, 2026, while the KCET 2026 examination will be conducted on April 23 and April 24, 2026.

This early announcement aims to help students plan their preparation and application process more efficiently.

·         DCET 2026 (Lateral Entry Engineering): May 23, 2026

·         MSc Nursing, MPT & MSc Allied Health Sciences: July 18, 2026

·         M Pharma & Pharma D Entrance Exam: November 21, 2026

Practical-Based Questions to Continue

The KCET syllabus will continue to include practical-based questions, a reform introduced in KCET 2025, to strengthen laboratory-based learning.

During option entry, candidates can also view detailed college profiles, infrastructure details, and available facilities—helping them make informed admission choices.

Government Plans Cap on Computer Science Seats

In a major policy update, the Karnataka government plans to cap intake in Computer Science (CS) and allied branches for KCET 2026.

·         A special committee will frame new guidelines

·         Aim: prevent oversupply of CS graduates and future unemployment

·         New-age courses like Quantum Computing may still receive approvals

·         Intake increase in existing CS branches will not be permitted

In KCET 2025, nearly 99,000 out of 1.5 lakh engineering seats were CS-related, and about 15,000 seats (including 9,000 CS seats) remained vacant.
